Walking the Island, Together
From Victoria to Port Hardy and from
Nanaimo to Ucluelet, we scout and share
the trails that make Vancouver Island
special. Pacific Trails Adventures is about
community—welcoming beginners,
challenging regulars, and celebrating the
small wonders along the way. We hike
respectfully, photograph honestly, and give
clear details so choosing your next path
feels easy. Start here, then walk with us.
Exploring Vancouver Island, One Trail at a Time
When we say “one trail at a time,” we mean a slower, more connected way to know this place—from Victoria to Port Hardy and from Nanaimo to Ucluelet. It’s choosing a single path today: a mossy riverside, a cedar-shadowed loop, or a bluff with salt air and sweeping views. Each outing is its own small adventure and a step toward something bigger—stronger legs, a clearer mind, and a deeper sense of home. Along the way you might watch bald eagles wheel, hear ravens talk, spot black-tailed deer or Roosevelt elk, and see salmon or trout moving in the rivers. We share honest notes, maps, distances, and seasons so planning feels simple and the focus stays on the walk. Go solo to reset, invite a friend, or join a local group; trails are community as much as landscape. Give wildlife space, tread lightly, and let curiosity set the pace. Taken together, these quiet miles add up to a true portrait of Vancouver Island—earned one trail at a time.

Respect the Land, Honour the Life
We hike as guests on this Island. Our promise is to tread lightly, listen closely, and leave every place better than we found it. We stay on established paths to protect delicate moss, lichens, and nurse logs; we give elk, deer, bears, and birds generous space; we leash dogs where required and keep voices low so the forest can be heard. We pack out every scrap—including micro-litter—avoid shortcuts and trampling, respect closures and seasonal restrictions, and choose gear and habits that reduce waste. Water is life here, so we keep soaps and chemicals away from creeks and lakes, step carefully around salmon streams, and treat crossings with care. This is how we express gratitude for cedars, shorelines, and the living systems that hold us.
Our commitment goes beyond our own boots. We share clear, truthful trail information so others can prepare well and travel safely. We support local stewardship groups, acknowledge and learn from Indigenous guardians of these lands and waters, and volunteer time and funds for restoration where we can. We welcome beginners, yield with kindness, help when someone needs a hand, and photograph responsibly without exposing sensitive places. When trails or wildlife are threatened, we speak up and stand with those protecting them. To treasure, respect, care for, and defend nature—and the people walking beside us—is the heart of Pacific Trails Adventures.
